Pavel Steidl, Czech Republic (Cleveland Debut) "Never was a standing ovation more richly deserved" Classical Guitar

One of the most widely celebrated classical guitar virtuosos of his generation, Pavel Steidl began his professional career after winning first prize at the prestigious Radio France International Guitar Competition in 1982.

Since then he has appeared in more than thirty countries all over the world, including Australia, Austria, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, England, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Scotland. Spain, and the U.S.A. Mr. Steidl's June 1, 2012 Classical Guitar Weekend recital marks his debut performance in northeastern Ohio.

A musician of unique artistry and boundless energy, Pavel Steidl's highly expressive performances of rare 19th-century guitar literature on authentic instruments add a wonderful dimension to his exciting recitals. He is also well known for his interpretations of Baroque Music, especially the music of the Czech composer Johann Anthon Losy. His recordings include the critically acclaimed C.D., LEGNANI: Fantasia, Op. 19 /36 Caprices, Op. 20 (Naxos), Napoléon Coste: Guitar Works, Vol. 3 (Naxos), Guitar Music of the 18th & 19th Centuries (Panton), Mertz: Barden-Klange (Frame), and Paganini: Sonate & Ghirbizzi for Guitar (Frame).

In addition to his performaance activities, Mr. Steidl is a highly respected teacher and thoughtful composer for the guitar. He often includes his compositions in his performances. Pavel Steidl was born in a small town near Prague, Czech Republic in 1961. He first studied music at the Prague Conservatoire before becoming a student of the guitarist, composer, Stephan Rak.
