Jesper Sivebæk, Denmark

Jesper Sivebæk concertizes extensively as both a soloist and chamber musician. He has premiered guitar concertos by Danish composers Karl Aage Rasmussen, Lars Heegård, Ulrik Neumann, Anders Koppel and Poul Ruders. He is also co-founder of the Scandinavian Guitar Duo which won the Danish Broadcasting Association’s Chamber Music Competition in 1993.

Mr. Sivebæk has won prizes in international solo guitar competitions, including: Certamen Internacional di Guitarra Francisco Tarrega in Benicasim, Spain; Concours International de Guitarre in Carpentras, France; and Incontri Chitarristici di Gargnano, Italy.

Jesper Sivebæk has held the position of associate professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen since 2007. He has also been a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Malmö Academy of Music, and the Academy of Music in Tallinn.

His recordings include: Spanish at Heart (EMI Classics), Works for Guitar by Poul Ruders (Dacapo Records), and Solo and Chamber Music for Guitar by Vagn Holmboe (Dacapo Records).

Jesper Sivebaek trained at The Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, Southern Denmark with associate professor Jørgen Bjørslev and at the Université Quebec in Montreal with Professor Alvaro Pierri. He graduated from the soloist class of the Malmö Academy of Music in Sweden under Professor Per-Olof Johnsson.
