Overview: These magnificent concert guitars have been designed, built and refined - starting in 1995 and extending over fourteen years - in close collaboration with the late, master guitarist Julian Bream who performed upon them in his "Great Estates Tour" of England, .

Fashioned after the vintage 1940 Rose Augustine Hermann Hauser I guitar that Julian Bream performed and recorded with towards the end of his international touring career - Southwell's beautiful Hauser I copies capture the essence of their illustrious progenitor (even down to the original instrument's soundboard and back tap tones) with uncanny accuracy.

Regarding one of his recent Hauser I reproductions Gary Southwell wrote:

"This is a guitar model I worked closely with Julian Bream on and is the first one I have made since Julian's death last year. So it brought back many memories of working with him. Julian loved the deep resonance of this guitar and it's 'cello like' qualities, as he called them. We worked hard to be able to reproduce the wonderful deep bass sound of this guitar which also supports the voice in the upper registers to give them a warm lyrical character. I know Julian had sold most of his guitars some time ago and was touched to learn that when he died he had kept two of my guitars with him."

Expect an aged Old World quality to this new guitar's elegant sound: profoundly deep basses, pure ringing trebles, wide color palette, excellent projection, superb playability. (Learn More about this classical guitar maker)
